Ongoing disruption

Argyle Street

The bridge at Argyle Street, over the railway line, is closed to traffic. 

Please access Argyle Street car park via New Bridge Street.

Blandford Square

Three of the pay and display bays at Blandford Square car park are being converted into electric vehicle charging point bays.

Eldon Garden 

The electric vehicle charging points are due to be replaced, so in the interim period there may be periods where existing electric vehicle charging points are out of service.  

Grainger Town multi-storey car park

The electric vehicle charging points are due to be replaced, so in the interim period there may be periods where the existing electric vehicle charging points are out of service.

Saville Place

Until 30 June 2025 13 pay and display bays in Saville Place car park have been reserved by Newcastle City Council for a storage area in the car park for a contractor working on Northumberland Street.    

Terrace Place South

From 5 August 2024 until 21 August 2026 there will be reduced capacity of pay to park bays in Terrace Place South car park due to the demolition of a building and then the rebuilding of the building.

The Garage at The Helix

From Monday 20 November 2023 the closing times for this car park will be amended to 10.00pm each day, with the car park re-opening the following day at 6.00am

Temporary disruption

Eldon Garden 

On November 25 there will be extended opening times in Eldon Garden multi storey car park, the multi storey car park will remain open until 11.00 pm due to a match day event taking place at St James Park.      

Eldon Square 

On November 25 there will be extended opening times in Eldon Square multi storey car park, the multi storey car park will remain open until 11.00 pm due to a match day event taking place at St James Park.

Ellison Place East

Until November 22 2 disabled bays in Ellison Place East car park (the first 2 bays closest to Durant Hall) have been reserved for skips.

Leazes Park Road 

From October 21 until December 16 2 pay to park bays in Leazes Park Road car park have been reserved for skips.

Manors 

On November 25 there will be extended opening times in Manors multi storey car park, the multi storey car park will remain open until 11.00 pm due to a match day event taking place at St James Park.

Osborne Terrace 

On November 27 Osborne Terrace car park will be closed in the morning to allow for the shrubs and vegetation to be cut back.

Whilst this car park is closed, permit holders are advised to use St Georges car park NE2 1DF.

St James Park Stadium car park 

The Stadium car park will be unavailable due to a match day event(s) taking place at St James Park on: 

• November 25

• December 4

• December 14

• December 18

• December 26   

• January 15 

• January 18 

The Garage at The Helix 

On November 25 there will be extended opening times in The Garage multi storey car park, the multi storey car park will remain open until 11.00 pm due to a match day event taking place at St James Park. 

Dean Street, Guildhall, Heywood’s Court and Painter’s Heugh 

On November 30 between 6.00 pm to 7.00 pm there will be no access into or exit out of Dean Street multi storey, Guildhall, Heywood’s Court and Painter’s Heugh car parks due to a road closure being in operation to support a parade event.  

Weather related disruption

During winter weather conditions multi storey car park roof sections may be closed at:

• Eldon Garden
• Eldon Square
• Grainger Town 

These closures are to keep people safe.  

When roof levels are closed notices will be put up to advise drivers.

During these closures season ticket permit holders can park in pay and display bays on lower levels of these car parks.
