Job seekers in Newcastle and the surrounding area are invited to one of the region’s largest jobs fairs, with hundreds of opportunities on offer from a whole range of employers.
Newcastle City Council, Your Homes Newcastle (YHN) and Job Centre Plus are jointly hosting the event at Newcastle’s Civic Centre between 10am and 2pm on Wednesday 4 October.
There will be a wide variety of different organisations attending, including Newcastle University, Northern Rail, Bowmer & Kirkland, Newcastle City Council, Tesco Bank and the NHS, with roles on offer in construction, retail, hospitality, finance, health and care, and many more.
Online applications can be very time consuming, so this event will give people the opportunity to speak directly to employers, with different roles to suit various skills, experience and educational backgrounds on offer for those looking for full or part-time jobs, a step up the career ladder, graduate or seasonal work or apprenticeships. Support and advice will also be available on the day to help people when looking for work or new opportunities.
Cllr Alex Hay, Cabinet member for a Thriving City at Newcastle City Council said: “We are committed to providing everyone with the opportunities they need to succeed in life, and being in good quality employment or training is key to achieving success.
“Newcastle Jobs Fair is a great opportunity to help people move towards work, training, or progress within their career.
“I am pleased that we have teamed up with our partners to bring such a large jobs fair to the Civic Centre to help set people on the track to a brighter future.
“I would like to encourage any employers interested in being involved to get in touch and anyone who’s looking for work or a new opportunity to sign up an come along on the day.”
Rachel Taylor, acting interim group managing director at YHN, said: “We are delighted to be working alongside Newcastle City Council and Job Centre Plus on this big event, bringing together a host of employers, training providers and more.
“We are keen to help people not only make a difference in their city but to their own lives.
“In these uncertain times with rising costs, it is great to be able to support people to find employment and highlight the wide range of opportunities available to them.
“We hope as many people as possible take this opportunity and attend the jobs fair.”
