Pupils from schools and colleges across Newcastle are preparing to receive exam this results this week.
Today (August 17) sees A-Levels and other results released to students as they prepare to enter the world of work or further study before GCSE pupils learn their grades next week.
Cllr Lesley Storey, Newcastle City Council cabinet member for a Growing City, said: “Results day can be a nervy but equally exciting time for young people and their families as they look ahead to the next stage of their lives.
“I’d like to congratulate everyone across the city for their hard work and dedication, and wish everyone the best of luck in whatever they decide to do next.
“I know our students have worked tirelessly with the help of teachers, staff, parents and carers and those support networks are absolutely vital in a young person’s development. I’d like to thank everyone who has contributed in any way.”
While some pupils will be preparing to head off to university, begin apprenticeships or start employment, for others the next step can be less certain.
