The ongoing partnership between Newcastle City Council and the National Lottery Community Fund will help support continued investment in youth services for the next 2 years via the Newcastle Youth Fund.
This collaboration and additional investment by the National Lottery Community Fund will help provide additional, positive opportunities for young people in their local communities.
The Newcastle Youth Fund, a young person led model of funding youth services, was developed to provide a diverse range of high-quality grassroots youth provision for young people aged 13 to 19 and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) up to the age of 25.
The city’s young people are at the heart of how this funding is allocated, from the application process to the evaluation of project submissions and decision making on the successful projects, to post award involvement through project monitoring visits.
Cllr Lesley Storey, Cabinet Member for a Growing City, Newcastle City Council said: “I am delighted to hear of our success in this funding bid and would like to thank the National Lottery Community Fund for their support. This achievement is a recognition of our continued commitment to the city’s young people and by improving access to new opportunities we can help them build a path to a successful future.”
Duncan Nicholson, Regional Head of Funding, North East and Cumbria at The National Lottery Community Fund said: “We are delighted to be supporting the work of the Newcastle Youth Fund where young people have the opportunity to make decisions about the activities and work they want to see commissioned. It’s important to us as a funder to ensure that the monies National Lottery Players contribute to good causes makes the biggest difference it can to organisations working to improve the lives of others and this project is a great example of that”
The deadline for applications for the current round of funding is 12 noon, Tuesday 18 July.
