Youth initiatives across Newcastle can now apply for funding to help support the delivery of their projects via the Newcastle Youth Fund.
Launched in 2021, the Newcastle Youth Fund is youth led model of delivering youth services. The fund has been set up to provide a diverse range of high-quality grassroots youth provision across Newcastle for young people aged 13 and 19 and young people with special educational needs and disabilities (SEND) up to the age of 25.
The aim is to fund projects for young people chosen by young people. The fund puts young people at its heart, from the application process to the evaluation of project submissions and decision making on the successful projects, to post award involvement through project monitoring visits.
In the last 2 years the Newcastle Youth Fund has allocated over £900,000 to 48 projects offering a range of support including Café Beam in Gosforth which provides work placements to young people with disabilities, to the Patchwork Project in Benwell which uses leisure activities to help develop the physical and mental wellbeing of young people.
Cllr Lesley Storey, Cabinet Member for a Growing City at Newcastle City Council said:
“The Newcastle Youth Fund is a great initiative that actively engages with young people and ensures they support the development of youth services in their communities.
“The growth of this project over the past 2 years demonstrates our commitment to youth provision in the city and I would encourage all applicable youth services to consider applying for this funding”
Projects can apply for up to £31,000 worth of funding. Application information can be found below and must be submitted by 12 noon Tuesday 18 July 2023.
