The Council has joined with partners from across the city to launch a new plan to improve the lives of Newcastle’s children and young people.
The plan has come together following extensive engagement work with the city’s babies, children and young people and is designed to address the key issues that matter to them most.
The Newcastle Plan for Children and Young People sets out how partners from across the public and voluntary and community sectors will work together to a shared vision to make Newcastle a city where all babies, children and young people grow up in a city where they feel happy and healthy, feel safe and feel ready for their next steps.
Councillor Lesley Storey, Cabinet Member for a Growing City, Newcastle City Council said: “It is more important than ever for us to work with partners across the city to bring positive changes for our children and young people. We are committed to investing in this work now, so we can make a real difference to the future life choices of these children, and they grow up to experience a positive future in Newcastle.”
The plan will be in place from 2024 until 2027 and will deliver actions such as implementing the Department of Education’s Family Hubs and Start for Life Programme, improve communication and support for parents who are concerned about their child’s mental health, and strengthen the Healthy Activities with Food provision with a focus on girls, teenagers and children and young people with SEND.
